As a woman who is eagerly seeking to pursue Jesus everyday I’ve come to realize the gift of discernment that God gives all women.
I believe that God comes to women in different ways than men. He created us uniquely so that our differences would end up complementing each other.
In the Bible, women are similar to gatekeepers meant to usher in God’s vision for their family and friends to understand.
Women have better vision to detect evil with their spiritually discerning eyes and fight attacks well through intimate prayer with the Lord.
(Reminder: prayer is simply talking to God)
Men too, are called to be gatekeepers of the Lord’s Temple, but for the sake of this post I want to reference Judges 13 in the Bible.
In Judges 13, God used a woman to unlock the gate to his vision.
An angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and revealed God’s plan to rescue Israel. The angel told the woman that when she had a son he would deliver Israel from the Philistines.
Manoah was skeptical and asked the Lord to reveal the same vision to himself. God being faithful answered his prayer, yet he once again delivered the message through the angel of the Lord to his wife while she was alone.
In my mind, this Bible story shows us two things. First it shows us that women are very important in the protection of God’s kingdom and secondly, it calls men to understand the way God uses women.
Women are called to usher in God’s vision and protect their home turf! God never wants us to neglect the role of women. He rather wants women to do all they can to make sure that they are allowing themselves the opportunity to receive all of the discerning messages that he is trying to deliver to them.
As for men, God wants them to respect women who are eagerly seeking Jesus and trust that the revelations and discernment God has given them are true and worthy to act on.
Woman, do not neglect your spiritual gifts and talents.
Men, honor the gifts that Jesus gives women!
Prayer: Jesus help us call on your name as mighty warriors who love protecting your name. Help us see your character more and more everyday so we are able to fall in love with it. Show us who you are, so we can grasp all the goodness within the God we serve. God help us women be faithful gatekeepers for our families and help the men passionately pursue you with their talents too.
