Why Believe the Bible?

The Biblia means “holy collection of books”

Before you turn your head from believing the Bible to be true, at least look at the reasons as to why you should believe it.

The Holy Bible is made up of two parts. The first part is the Old Testament (made up of 39 books that tell the history before the time of Jesus) and the second part is called the New Testament (made up of 27 books that tell the history during and after Jesus’ time on Earth).

The first 4 books of the New Testament are called “The Gospels” written by the apostles Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These four individuals wrote a biography of Jesus’ life and were eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ himself.

The stories they wrote were also very EMBARRASSING stories of themselves. This shows they were recording the TRUTH, not lies that made them look bad.

All the disciples* of Jesus except John, died brutal deaths for their faith. They were crucified, stoned, beheaded, and even hung.

*Disciple: a personal follower of Jesus during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles

Jesus revealed himself to the twelve of his apostles* in a way that proved that he was fully God. This is what allowed the twelve apostles to live their lives in a way that sacrificed everything just to share the character of Jesus with the world.

*Apostle: An official representative charged with a commission. Jesus chose twelve men from among his followers to be his apostles. An apostle of Jesus Christ is a messenger sent to spread the gospel of salvation.

COOL FACT: If the twelve didn’t sacrifice anything to share the good news of Jesus with anyone, we would not have any evidence or news of Jesus today.

THINK ABOUT IT, WHY WOULD THEY DIE FOR A LIE?

If Jesus is who he says that he is (creator and savior), then he brings meaning and purpose into every little thing on earth. If he isn’t who he says that he is, then there is no meaning and purpose for anything under the sun.
